Two new resources in the CFCC Wilmington Campus Library for the study of anatomy and physiology!

Anatomy & Physiology Revealed : An Interactive Cadaver Dissection Experience

This CD-ROM program, produced at the University of Toledo, is available for 2-hour reserve use in the Library.  Cadaver photos are blended with a layering technique to allow the student to “peel away” layers of the body.  Systems included are: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.  Users can choose from four views: dissection, animation (of structures and physiological processes), histology (shown in microscopic slides), or imaging (correlating the dissected images with X-rays, MRIs and CT scans).  Self-tests can be used to gauge understanding with quizzes and simulated practical exams.

Anatomy TV : Interactive Functional Anatomy

Interactive Functional Anatomy is an online resource, accessible from the CFCC Library webpage, featuring 3D anatomy images. It has an extensive series of 3D muscle function animations that give a new perspective on functional anatomy. Users can view and interact with a 3D graphic model of the whole skeleton with ligaments, muscles and the neurovascular system.  Views include : whole body, upper body, lower body, and specific joint regions, each with multiple layers to select.  There are also live action movies of selected gross motor activities (walking, jogging, pushups, etc.) accompanied by stress graphs depicting the impact on various muscles.  MRI images and quizzes, and multiple-choice question tests can be used to gauge understanding.
