Community Services

Cape Fear Community College is very involved in bringing valuable public services to the local community.

Some of the public services we provide are:

  • Child Development Center – NC 5-star, nationally accredited (NAEYC)!!
  • Annual Dental Sealant Clinic: annual sealant clinic for local school children
  • Houses built by CFCC carpentry students donated to Wilmington Housing Finance and Development for low-income families.
  • Dental Clinic: by appointment only – (910) 362-7341
  • Cosmetology Services: hair services, manicuring, and esthetics by appointment only – (910) 362-7352
  • Free Music Concerts at the Wilmington and North Campuses
  • “Our Place” student Hotel-Restaurant Management and Culinary Technology student dining room. Open for lunch in the Spring and Dinner in the Fall. Reservations are accepted at the beginning of the semester via the Our Place website.
  • The Pineapple Guild, HRM and CUL student club does a wide variety of community service projects including; assisting with Cystic Fibrosis fund-raising dinner and fishing tournament, Lower Cape Fear Hospice Festival of Trees, March of Dimes Chef’s Auction, WHQR pledge drive, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard can drives, Domestic Violence Shelter donations, Migrant Worker toiletries, fund-raising for hurricane victims and fund-raising for students in our department who have experienced loss or redeployment to Iraq. Club Advisors are Diane Withrow and Jim Dishaw.
  • Poetry/Creative writing readings are hosted at Folks Cafe on Market Street on Wednesday evenings
  • Portals Literary and Arts Magazine – Reception was held downtown with readings, music performances, and art exhibition.
  • Log splitters donated to Salvation Army
  • Career Connection, offered by CFCC Career Services, allows employers to post their job listings free of charge.
  • Proctor testing services are offered free of charge by CFCC Testing Services to all non-profit organizations.
  • The LRC offers Community Patron library cards to qualified residents of New Hanover and Pender counties at no charge.
