Creative Writing Awards
To recognize writing excellence in creative writing classes, the English Department Awards Committee encourages Fall 2012-Spring 2013 students in English Creative Writing Courses to participate in the annual Creative Writing Contest.
Four genre categories are available in the Creative Writing Awards category: poetry, flash fiction, short fiction, and creative non-fiction. Specific guidelines apply to each category.
Creative Writing Awards Submission Guidelines
Developmental English Writing Awards
To recognize writing excellence in developmental classes, the English Department Awards Committee encourages Fall 2012-Spring 2013 students in English 075, 085, and 095 to participate in the annual Developmental English Writing Contest.
Student winners will be selected from three developmental courses (075, 085, 095) with first-place cash awards of $100 and second-place awards of $50 in all sections.
Students submit an example of their best work from their developmental English courses. For English 085 and English 095, submissions must be in essay form. For English 075, submissions may be in paragraph or essay form.

To recognize writing excellence in vocational-technical classes, the English Department Awards Committee encourages Fall 2012-Spring 2013 students in Vocational-Technical English courses to participate in the annual Vocational-Technical English Writing Contest.
