This course provides an introduction to three-dimensional design principles using the medium of clay. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of forming, surface design, glaze application, and firing

Art 284 Ceramics II

This course covers advanced hand building and wheel techniques. Emphasis is placed on creative expression, surface design, sculptural quality, and glaze effect.

Art 285 Ceramics III

This course provides the opportunity for advanced self-deter- mined work in sculptural and functional ceramics. Emphasis is placed on developing the technical awareness of clay bodies, slips, engobes, and firing procedures necessary to fulfill the students artistic goals.

Art 286 Ceramics IV

This course provides the opportunity for self-determined work in sculptural and functional ceramics. Emphasis is placed on developing the technical awareness of glaze materials, glaze formulation, and firing techniques necessary to fulfill the students artistic goals.

Students study sculptural and functional ceramics.
