Directions for viewing and grading student assignment submissions can be found at http://goo.gl/EGtrH

How do I hide columns in the Gradebook?

There are a couple of options for hiding columns in your gradebook.  If you wish to hide your columns from students’ view too follow both instructions listed in order below.

Quizzes and Tests

How do I move a quiz / test from a previous semester into another course?

The easiest way to reuse tests and quizzes is when an entire course is copied. This will retain the course structure and any assessments.

  1. Export the test from the old course. Go to Control Panel > Course Tools > Test Manager >Tests > Click down arrows next to quiz > Select Export. This will download a zip file to your computer. Make note of where the file downloaded.
  2. Import the test to the new course. Go to Control Panel > Course Tools > Test Manager > Tests > Select the Import Test button > Browse for the file you downloaded and select it.
  3. Deploy the test in the new course.

More detailed instructions can be found at http://goo.gl/jYYv5

How do I upload a test/quiz from the publisher?

Directions for importing a course package can be found at http://goo.gl/Us41P

If you are provided a key then you may need to import a course cartridge.  Directions for importing a course cartridge can be found at http://goo.gl/ZFPR7

Common Troubleshooting:

  • The downloaded file may be Pool and not Test, or vice versa, try both.
  • The downloaded .zip file actually contains more than one .zip and needs to be extracted prior to uploading into Blackboard.

How can I clear a student’s quiz / test attempt?

Instructions for clearing a quiz / test attempt can be found at http://goo.gl/PkaZG

How do I give a student extended time on a quiz / test?

Unfortunately, Blackboard has no easy way to extend time for quizzes / test per individual student(s). The easiest way is to turn off the Auto Submit under Test Options.  This way, you can still set a time limit but if a student needs extra time, then Blackboard will extend the time as needed for that student.

Miscellaneous

Are Courses created automatically?  When will my course be ready to work in?

Yes, courses are created automatically.  The only courses you will need to request are Master or Developmental courses.  Your regular curriculum courses will  be automatically created and are available once the schedule is set.

How can I hide classes on the My Courses list?

If you do not wish to view all of the courses listed for you in Blackboard, you can hide these and you can hide their corresponding announcements.

  1. Click the wheel icon in the appropriate module (My Announcements, My Courses, etc.)
    wheel icon under My Courses
  2. Uncheck the Course Name box next the course to hide the course ID.
  3. Uncheck the Announcements box next to the course ID.
  4. Click the Submit button to apply the changes.

When do students get added into my Blackboard course at the start of the semester?

Students are automatically added to Blackboard course sites a day or two prior to the beginning of the semester, however, courses will not be made available until the morning of the first day of the semester. By mid morning all students should have access to the course sites.

How long do students have access to Blackboard after the end of the semester?

Students will have access to their Blackboard course sites for 48 hrs after the end of the semester. After that period students will still be able to check final course grades through WebAdvisor, but they will not be able to see grades for individual assignments in Blackboard.

Is an Enrollment Verification required?  Does mine fit the criteria?

Yes an Enrollment Verification is required to track attendance in an Online Course.  More information and criteria can be found here: http://www2.cfcc.edu/onlinefaculty/enrollment-verification/

Census Dates will match the 75% Refund Date on the Academic Calendar. You can view the Academic Calendar at http://cfcc.edu/calendar.html

What format can I share my documents in so all my students can access them?

Format all docs to PDF or convert files to Google docs.

How do I know if my course is ready?

Refer to the Course Readiness – Get Help document.  This  provides a quick easy checklist for making sure your course is up-to-date along with Get Help resources.

How can I embed a video I made into my course?

Embedding videos you have created can be a bit tricky due to Bb/browser issues.  Directions for uploading your videos to YouTube then embedding them into Blackboard can be found at http://goo.gl/OlQcO

How do I email all of my students at once?

To send an email to your students, go to Course Tools>Send Email>All Users.

My course navigation menu/buttons are gone.  What happened?

You may have hidden the navigation by accident.  Take your mouse cursor and hover on the far left of the browser window, and a dark gray thin rectangle will appear.  To make your navigation menu reappear, click the rectangle.  Some users will use this feature for more work space within Blackboard.

I posted an announcement and students cannot see it.  What happened?

More than likely the announcement has the wrong dates set.  Double check the display dates and make sure they are correct.
