Communication Tools
These tools in Blackboard are used primarily for communicating important course information to students. Instructions are provided for the Announcements, Email, and Calendar tools.
Content Area
Content Areas are created and linked in the course menu. These areas serve as containers for housing and presenting your instructional material. You can include content such as text, file attachments, links to websites, tests, assignments, and multimedia.
Creating and Managing Group Work
Students can be organized into groups (manual, random, or self enroll) within Blackboard allowing them to collaborate in activities such as discussion board, assignments, blogs, journals, tasks and wikis.
Discussion Board
The discussion board is one of the most commonly used tools in Blackboard. It is a communication tool used for a variety of interactive activities. There are many types of discussion that can be conducted in a course (debate, opinions, peer review, etc.). Discussions can be graded or non-graded.
General Course Environment
This section provides information on the navigation of a Bb course, adding menu items, banners, adding test students, and how to build a learning module.
Grade Center
The Grade Center contains student assessment submissions and other grading information for the course.
Rubrics
A rubric is an assessment tool listing evaluation criteria for an assignment, and provides a means to convey to students your expectations for the quality of completed assignments.
Test / Quizzes
Blackboard has a test tool that allows you to create your own self-scoring tests. This is just one method for providing a quiz or test in Blackboard.
