My name is Julian Sloop. I am 26 years old, happily married and the proud father of an energetic 3 year old son. Prior to becoming a student at Cape Fear Community College I was a small business owner. Owning a business, though difficult, proved a tremendous learning experience. The economic downturn and collapse in the housing market led me to the conclusion that I needed to return to school in order to provide for my family as I desired.
My career as a student at Cape Fear Community College has been successful and rewarding. I have just received my fourth President’s letter and had the privilege of serving as an officer within Phi Theta Kappa this past year. I was nominated from the North Campus for the USA All-Academic Team. I was also nominated by Cape Fear Community College and selected by the North Carolina Community College System as one of thirty students from across the state to attend the Student Leadership Development Program. These successes were made possible in part by the existence of Cape Fear Community College’s Adult High School Program because just two years ago I was a high school dropout returning to school to get a diploma. Now I am a General Science Transfer Student looking to get a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering. CFCC has helped me reinvent myself and improve the futures of my wife and son. I am excited and look forward to serving as your SGA President.
