SGA General Assembly Meeting
October 15, 2012
Call to Order:
Jamir Jumoke called the meeting to order at 4:11pm.
Jamir Jumoke(President), Gary Jones(Vice President), Courtney Hull(Secretary), Rebecca Stutts(Treasurer), Jan Fazzari(Instructional Operations), Jason Chaffin(QEP, English Instructor), Yoel Del Rio(Student Senate), Pierce Volkmar(Student), Casey Harrell(SOTA), Waleed Jarrod(Math Club), Trevor Todd(Ambassador/Student Senate), Steve Hammer(Math Club), Megan Carpenter(Student Senate), and Matthew Ouellette(President-Green Building Club).
Drop off locations announced for this semester’s service project. Boxes will be located near the security desks at both the Downtown and the North Campus. Items most needed are men’s clothing, socks and gloves. However, all items are welcome. Clothing should be in good repair.
Feeding Those in Need:
In addition to supporting Early bread Ministries with the clothing drive; we are hosting our second breakfast service on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 7 am. The ministry is located at C.E.C. of St. Peter the Fisherman, 314 South Carolina Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401. Any interested volunteers are encouraged to attend.
Jamir shared a slide show illustrating the volunteer service from the last event.
Dr. Sutton and Dr. McKinley hosted a forum on the importance of voting. Jamir attended on behalf of the SGA as both a speaker and a panelist. It was a very informative event.
Jason Chaffin and Jan Fazzari presented the process for the new end of course evaluations due to roll out at the end of the fall semester. All evaluations will be submitted online. Students should be able to access the links from their mobile devices. The process aims to get more of a response from students in order to better structure curriculums in the future. All submissions are confidential. Instructors will not receive the results until after final grades have been submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
P.U.S.H. Symposium “Mix Tape”:
This event is designed to put a modern spin on effective study habits. See flyers posted around both campuses. This event is Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 4:30pm in Rm. L107.
Rock Paper Scissors Tourney:
Coach Chris Libert in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities will be hosting a Rock Paper Scissors Tourney Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 3pm in the Cafeteria, Downtown Campus Rm. L 110.All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate. Sign-ups are happening now.
Green Building Club Presentation:
Matthew Ouellette, President, green Building Club gave a presentation on the importance of “going green” including day-to-day things we can do to make a difference in energy conservation. Their upcoming projects include a Fuel Efficient Car Show, Friday, October 26, 2012 from noon-2:30 at the North Campus, a campus energy audit, rainwater recycling project for North Campus Irrigation, and a campus–wide recycling project.
Pizza and iced tea were provided for all in attendance.
