The CFCC Sonography Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of The Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Medical Sonography is a rapidly growing imaging specialty in the field of health care, using high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body structures. Students are taught how to produce high-quality images through in-depth instruction. This includes classroom as well as hands-on experience in the lab and clinical settings.
Coursework includes an introduction to sonography and patient care, sonographic physics, abdominal sonography, obstetrical/gynecological sonography, and vascular sonography. With the proper use of equipment, the medical sonographer will produce high-quality images for the physician to make a diagnosis.
Financial Aid Announcement
There is a policy based on federal regulations that establish a maximum time frame for completion of a program of 150 percent of the published length of an educational program. This means that as a student majoring in Pre-Nursing or a Pre-Health Science program, you will need to pay careful attention to the number of hours you attempt prior to actual admission into your program of choice. Depending on the number of hours that you have attempted prior to admission into Nursing or a Health Science program, you may not be eligible for enough financial aid to complete the program after you have been admitted.
To make sure you understand this policy and that you plan ahead in order to use your financial benefits in a wise and timely manner, please consult with the financial aid office or a Counselor located in the Union Station building (Downtown) or the McKeithan Center (North Campus).
